I enjoy writing these blogs because I want my circle to know I care. With this blog, I am reaching out to see what you've been up to and how I can help. April 2025 celebrated the critical impact of social workers, with this year's theme centered on our ability to show compassion + action towards others. Let's flip the focus from what we do for others to what we do for ourselves.
I’m still working with children, moms and dads, families, couples, and even grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. There is so much going on in the home and the world that it’s challenging to figure out what you’re asking of yourself daily and if you’re even meeting your expectations.
It’s important to take care of your well-being and exercise self-care.
Some may not believe in therapy, counseling, or coaching, and some may feel that alternative methods exist. Changes can be made through various resources, but speaking to a neutral party in a safe and supportive environment or via Telehealth can't hurt. I encourage it!
When you say, “Can I ask you a quick question?” - that is the point when you’ve entered into counseling. It may seem like an innocent question, but it is often loaded with many factors that can't always be sorted out with a simple "yes" or "no." At the end of the day, focus on making more wellness changes in your life and that of the people you love (or hate). Compassion + Action applies to us, as well! One day at a time, with or without a therapist, you will find that filling your cup will allow you to pour into others.
