2025 Internship Opportunities
Interns at Social Concepts Therapeutic Services (SCTS) bring energy, new ideas, and a dedication to enhancing the therapeutic journey for youth, individuals, couples, and families. Working alongside Mrs. Hughes, the interns will utilize therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing to foster personal growth and help clients achieve self-awareness.
Interns also engage in workshops, activities and planned events for the community. Their involvement would align with the SCTS mission to assist individuals in their recovery from anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, and other behavioral health issues, while integrating mindfulness practices for a well-rounded healing process. SCTS Interns promote Wellness for the Entire Community through the following roles and responsibilities:
Assessments
Interns will meet with clients to conduct various evaluations to include biopsychosocial, substance abuse, domestic violence, anger management, trauma, psychosexual, etc. They may administer scales during each assessment.
Administrative
We all LOVE what we do but if it’s not documented, it doesn’t exist. Documentation is a key component of creating a paper trail to ensure that internal and external measures are meeting both professional and ethical standards.
Program Development
Like SCTS workshops, our programs will be designed for youth, parents, families and couples promoting the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Interns will have the opportunity to choose a topic, develop a curriculum and present their work. Programs may be presented in community settings.
Workshops
Evidenced-based and informational workshops for youth, parents and families will occur in spring and fall sessions. Interns will have the opportunity to choose a topic, develop a curriculum and conduct a workshop.
Client Intake
Being present at the office is important. Hearing the client’s story and understanding their needs is mutually rewarding; the client feels heard and supported and the intern practices empathy and compassion.
Collaborations
SCTS may accept invitations to collaborate with other organizations. Interns will be prepared and equipped to work on shared visions for individual, family, and community wellness initiatives.
Community Events
SCTS takes time out to join other service providers at indoor and outdoor fairs, back to school Jams, wellness events, etc., to share information about the field of social work and mental health awareness.
Training and Certifications
Upon arrival, each intern is required to complete online trainings including HIPAA, Ethics, Mandated Reporter, and Information Security Awareness. These core trainings provide foundational criteria for the helping professions.
